Dr. Jennifer Simonson
Jennifer S. Simonson, OD, FCOVD is the clinical director of the Boulder Valley Vision Therapy Center. She assesses, develops, and directs an individualized vision therapy program for each patient. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Optometry and a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). She is a member of the Colorado and American Optometric Associations and the Optometric Extension Program. Dr. Simonson was the recipient of the 2007 Colorado Young Optometrist of the Year. She is active on the Colorado Vision Summit planning committee, the Vision and Learning Forum, the Colorado Vision Training Conference planning committee, and enjoys public speaking. Her primary interests in practice include pediatric vision care, vision therapy, sports therapy, and vision rehabilitation.
Dr. Roger Dowis
Roger T. Dowis, OD, FCOVD, has been in private practice in Boulder, Colorado for over 30 years. He is a fellow and charter member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Dowis has served as a member of the national examining board for COVD, the certifying body for optometrists and therapists who provide vision therapy. In addition, he has been National Committee Chairman for Vision and Juvenile Delinquency, Head Start, Vision Rehabilitation for Head Traumas, Geriatric Vision, and was Director of the Visual Perceptual Department at the Colorado Optometric Center from 1968-1974. He speaks frequently at local, state, and international conferences on vision and how it relates to learning disabilities, juvenile delinquency, binocular difficulties, and visual information processing. Dr. Dowis is co-author of the Manual of Esotropia Therapy, and has written numerous articles for national publications. Dr. Dowis will be covering for part of Dr. Simonson's maternity leave in February and March 2012.
Dr. Jeff Berger
Dr. Jeff Berger, OD is a Colorado native. He grew up in Littleton, CO, and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. After graduating, he spent two years working as a research associate for the CSU Biochemistry Department before moving to Tahlequah, OK, to attend Northeastern State University College of Optometry.Dr. Berger graduated summa cum laude in 2009 and returned to Colorado with his wife Leslie. Dr. Berger will be in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting in February 2012.
Dr. Berger also practices primary optometric care, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease care at his general practice, Erie Family Eyecare. We are pleased that he will be covering Dr. Simonson's maternity leave in February and March of 2012 and continue to see patients when Dr. Simonson returns to the office part-time in April.
